Alpine / Nubian Goat Program

We started raising goats just for packing, something we had been around and a part of since the 1990's. We have been focusing on strong and athletic, great conformation, and sweet temperaments. Our pack lines also came with strong dairy lineage and we found that we really enjoy having optimal nutrition through raw milk products for our family and beyond.

Kidding season is sweet and intense. Snuggling the kids is pretty awesome but there is a lot of care and consideration to raising healthy kids. Our kids are now mostly Alpine with a splash of Nubian. We love this blend for so many reasons. What we hear from farms that purchase our bucklings is - they are so friendly, fun to train. We have retained most of our doelings and can say straight up that they are sweet, super sweet, easy to train, and great milk goats. But we also enjoy taking our ladies out on trails.

Our goats

Our Program

We have a natural rearing farm and our goats are at the heart of it. While people joke that they are our free loaders, they are anything but. They are the ultimate farm magic, they turn grass into milk, and manure into compost gold.

  • They forage their way around the pastures, turn the soil with their hooves, nourish our soil, and keep predators away.
  • Our goats quadruple our herd each spring with healthy kids - dairy, packing, meat
  • We bottle feed our kids for bonding.
  • We have a garden dedicated to herbs that nourish our goats and keep them optimally health year round.
  • We use Natural Rearing and biodynamic principles, no chemicals, no vaccines, and no commercial wormers.
  • We focus on solid temperaments, structure and conformation, and strong dairy lines.
  • We spend about six plus hours a day with our goats - care, feeding, cleaning, milking.

Kids For Sale

Our kids are mostly Alpine with a touch of Nubian. We bottle raise so we can bond with them and then they can transition to their new homes with ease. We use a blend of our goats milk and our kefir, not replacer, and support the milk with herbal blends to help them with parasite control while they are young and vulnerable. We do not use any vaccines, commercial wormers, or pharmaceuticals. They are handled on the daily, and we start pasture walks when they are about 10 days old. We do have kids for sale for folks looking for strong dairy and packgoat lines, we start to release them at 10 days old to experienced homes, and 8 weeks old to new homes. They have horns, and we do not recommend banding until 12 weeks to 1 year of age. All of our goats go home with their heritage, lineage, and instructions for care.

We have on more Doe that will kid in 2025, our Compass. Sometime at the end of July early August. If you are interested those are our final kids for sale this year.

Does

We have one Nubian who is our oldest and our Queen, this was her last year breeding. All of our younger Does carry a hint of Nubian but mostly Alpine, anywhere from 1/2 to 7/8th. We breed for structure, temperament, and dairy lines. Our farm is known for high multiples, even some of our first time fresheners have triplets! We feed our girls - pasture grasses, wild forage, meadow grass hay, trees, alfalfa pellets, and boss. We also support them with herbs from our garden both fresh and dried, kelp, minerals, and redmonds salt. On average our Does gift us with 3 - 5 quarts of milk per Doe per day. When they are young they are out on trails with our wethers, and some of the best hiking goats! We just love our ladies.

Buck

We currently have a buck with some flashy heritage going all the way back to the original packgoat herd in Lander, WY, where they use to breed the original titans! Besides all of that glitter he is kind, observant, and shy. When he is in rut (September - February), he is watchful of the herd, demanding of the Does, and a wild beast. With all of that, he is still kind to humans and allows us to handle him. He is about 350 lbs, super athletic, frisky in the evenings with gorgeous displays, and kind of cheeky if he knows he is getting a special snack (he loves a little banana or apple during hoof trimming).

Videos

He is for sale, to an experienced goat herd owner with the right property and management. He will be with us until that person comes our way.

The milk house

Raw Goat Dairy

Our raw dairy is seasonal, as nature intended. We breed between November and January for spring kidding and milk season. We milk anywhere between 200 - 240 days depending on the weather and the age of our Does.

We hand milk twice a day, a working relationship at the very core! We do have a milk machine as a backup, to use as a teaching tool in Goat Camp, and are grateful when we need it. We enjoy hand-milking much more and so do our ladies. Because we don't use chemicals or vaccines, we don't feed grain, and we use herbs to support our goats health, our raw milk tastes fresh, super fresh. It is sweet right after kidding, and then slightly changes flavor with the season and the forage they are on.

Raw milk is like a giant hug on the system, nourishing is so many ways. We have had raw goats milk in our home for over 25 years now, our children and our dogs don't know a day without it.

Raw Kefir is what we specialize in. Summer kefir is a bit thinner, nourishing like liquid gold. Winter kefir is thicker, like a milk shake, so satisfying on a cold morning.

Our raw cheese collection is growing as our skills grow - cheese making is an art and a skill. Our fresh cheeses we make weekly and they are a staple in our farm store!
